Geo 4602 - SEDIMENTOLOGY AND STRATIGRAPHY - Spring 2008

Prerequisites: Geo 3202 (Petrology) and Geo 2302 (Geodynamics II) or instructor’s permission

Undergraduate geology, geophysics and geo-engineering majors must take the course A-F.  For those taking the course S-N, an S will be considered equivalent to a C or better. Grading will follow the university's system incorporating plus and minus letter grades.   Anyone auditing the course is requested to officially register as a visitor. No make-up exams or extensions for course requirements will be given without documentation of an excuse conforming to university rules.  The assignment of an Incomplete requires a written agreement between the instructor and student. The expected workload is equivalent to three hours of learning effort per credit per week or 9 hours per week for this course.

Grading:        Labs = 35 % 

            Mid-term Exams (2) = 20 % each

            Final exam = 25 %

 

 

The Lab grade is based on pre-lab and lab assignments (80%) and 2 quizzes (10% each).

Labs are due 12:00 noon each Monday in the TA’s mailbox in Room 108 Pillsbury.  No late labs will be accepted once the graded work is returned (by Wednesday lab time) without the TA’s prior consent.

 

Mid-term Exams:  All exams will be cumulative and will be given during the regular lecture period with the exception of the final exam that is scheduled during Final Exam week.   The exams will be based primarily on the lecture materials and secondarily on the labs materials.

 

Final Exam:  The Final Exam will be cumulative and is scheduled for Friday May 16,  8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., Room 110 Pillsbury Hall during Final Exam week
